Welcome to my digital space!
While I tend to lead a more private life (I don’t even have a Facebook account), I’ve created this website as a space to share my theological work. Its primary function is to serve as a dynamic, ever-expanding CV—a reference point for those interested in my journey. It’s also the best place to ask about my writings and where to find my books.
Beyond serving as a repository for my work, I’ve long envisioned this space as a platform for engaging with various theological topics through a blog. Too often, theologians become entangled in abstract, convoluted language, forgetting that our role is to make theology accessible and relevant to the Church. Complexity should never be mistaken for depth; my aim with this blog is to distill intricate ideas into clear, meaningful discourse without losing their essence.
Launching a public website and blog comes with its risks—putting one’s thoughts into the world always does. But I’m concerned that many voices with something valuable to say remain silent, whether out of fear or self-interest. Theologians, in particular, play a crucial role in shaping both the Church and society, yet their voices are often overlooked. In the Orthodox Church especially, decision-making power tends to be concentrated at the top, leaving theologians and the laity with little influence. When you add self-censorship to the mix, it’s no surprise that meaningful change remains elusive. Through this blog, I hope to offer my perspective on church developments, challenging the status quo when necessary.
I have no illusions that my opinions alone will transform anything, but I do believe in the collective power of many voices, and want to make a contribution. Some of my posts may stir controversy, provoke debate, or even border on the heretical—but as the Church’s “thorn in the flesh” (2 Cor 12:6–7), these challenges are necessary to keep her awake and true to her calling.
Now, let’s not rush things on this first encounter. I’m glad you’re here! Feel free to follow me on Twitter and Instagram for updates on my books, articles, and blog posts—I promise not to overwhelm your feed. Or, simply check back here from time to time. I’ll be working steadily to fill this space with thought-provoking content… though it may take some time… I do have other things to do… those boring books aren’t going to write themselves!
